Hot baked crab dip served with bread. Even family members who do not like crabmeat love this dip.

before you get started

Set out your cream cheese the night before or at least two hours before you plan to start to allow it to soften.

ingredients

  • 2blocks —
    cream cheese (full fat preferred)
  • 1Cup —
    grated cheddar cheese
  • 1Cup —
    mayonnaise
  • 1/4Cup —
    diced green onions
  • 1/2Cup —
    bacon bits
  • 1can —
    drained crab meat
  • 1Teaspoons —
    dill weed
  • 1
    large loaf of French bread or other style of bread for bread bowl

instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

  2. Place foil on a cookie sheet. Foil should be large enough to wrap the bread bowl.

  3. Place all ingredients except the crab meat and bread into a large mixing bowl.

  4. Using an electric mixer (if available), mix well

  5. Add crab meat and fold it into the other ingredients.

  6. Scoop out the bread bowl to create a baking container. Set removed bread aside. Place bread on foil.

  7. Fill the bread bowl with crab mixture.

  8. Close the foil around the bread bowl.

  9. Place in the oven and bake for one hour. Break or cut removed into pieces for scooping dip.
