Classic from the Betty Crocker cookbook.
ingredients
- 3/4Cup —Butter
- 1 1/2Cups —Chopped celery (with leaves)
- 3/4 Cup —Finely chopped onion
- 9Cups —Soft bread cubes
- 1Teaspoon —Salt
- 1/2Teaspoon —Ground sage*
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons —Chopped fresh thyme leaves or 1/2 teaspoon dried
- 1/4Teaspoon —Pepper
instructions
Heat butter in a Dutch oven or a large cast-iron frying pan over medium-high heat.
Cook celery and onion in butter for about 2 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
notes
*I personally do not use the ground sage, do not like the taste.
